Sr. Application Developer

We are seeking a strong technical leader to help drive solution design and delivery within our Marketing & Distribution IT department and be a part of a high performing, collaborative team where every day is different. As a Sr. Application Developer in our organization, you will be responsible for systems used by agents and clients, including Microsoft Dynamics CRM, our Agent Portal (SharePoint/.NET Applications), public and client websites, client mobile application, data integrations between M&D applications, and supporting vendor solutions. The successful candidate would have the ability to assess and create solutions that support business objectives, have experience with customer facing or sales applications and SaaS solutions, and can communicate effectively at various levels of the organization.

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of key Agent and Client systems. Includes development application code, testing completed applications, and develop required documentation.
  • Actively participate in sprint planning, grooming, and daily standups and create, execute, and maintain project plans for complex systems.
  • Work closely with internal and external teams, Product Owners, and project managers to define system scope, objectives, functional requirements, and design options.
  • Responsible for comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and making recommendations.
  • Responsible for designing and developing complex technology configurations to satisfy business requirements.
  • Responsible for providing 24-hour support for production systems as a part of on-call rotation. Assist in determining the causes of system problems.
  • Responsible for providing guidance and direction to development staff and consultants on technical matters.
  • Provide technical leadership for projects and initiatives, including acting as Dev Lead for projects.
  • Collaborate with peers to ensure that solution designs are rationalized and integrated across IT functions and business units.

What It Takes to Join Our Team:

  • College degree or equivalent plus five years of relevant experience required.
  • Knowledge of data handling methods, development techniques, and one or more development programming languages. (HTML5/CSS/JavaScript, Bootstrap, C#, ASP.NET, MVC, SQL, Informatica, etc.)
  • 3-5 years of ASP .NET and web development experience (MVC, JavaScript, HTML)
  • Experience implementing SaaS solutions preferred. Microsoft Dynamics CRM experience a plus
  • Experience in data integration patterns (Messaging, Web Services, Informatica, etc.) a plus
  • Experience in insurance or finance data processing preferred. Prior experience with customer facing and/or sales applications a plus.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills, technical systems knowledge, and problem-solving skills are required
  • Must have a strong customer service attitude in order to develop relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile principles a plus.
  • Must possess written and verbal communication skills as appropriate to this position.
